Mission Intention for Aptil
That through its compelling preaching of the Gospel, the Church may give young people new reasons for life and hope.

NORTH COUNTRY CATHOLIC: We are continuing the North Country Catholic subscription campaign. If you have not yet subscribed to our diocesan newspaper I would ask you to do so today. The paper is a source of information, evangelization and unity for all the Catholics in our diocese. Please place your subscription envelope in the collection basket or mail a check for $25 to the North Country Catholic, PO Box 326, Ogdensburg, NY, 13669.

DIOCESAN ECUMENICAL SERVICE: The 2011 Diocesan Ecumentical Service will be celebrated on Sunday, April 10 at 2:30 PM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 320 West Lynde Street, Watertown. All Christians and all people of good will are invited.

FORMATION FOR MINISTRY: Formation for Ministry consists of weekly classes and ministry experiences involving practical “how to’s” of various ministries within the parish. Your talents assist your parish needs, The education site locations are in the Malone, Ogdensburg, and Ticonderoga areas for classes beginning September 2011. Parish members John and Gloria Miner, Gladys Collins, Patricia Delisle and Ann Learned have completed the Formation for Ministry Program. They are happy to share their insights with those of you who might be interested.

CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES: Next weekend our parish will take up the Works of the Holy Father/Catholic Relief Services Collection. This collection makes possible the mission fo the Catholic Church in America to combat poverty, provide relief and development, assist refugees and immigrants , and advocate for justice and peace in situations of conflict and neglect of basic human rights throughout the world. Thank you for your generous support.

BRING SOMEONE TO CHURCH: It has been shown that many persons would return to the practice of their faith if someone would invite them to return. And, surprisingly, this is especially true if the one asking was at one time one of those who had left the practice of their faith. What greater time is there than to bring someone back to church during these days of Lent and the coming days of Palm Sunday and Holy Week.

BAPTISM: Emmie Jeanine Riel daughter of Justin and Ashley (Waldron) Riel, became a member of the Catholic community through the Sacrament of Baptism on March 20..

MARRIAGE TIP: Some decisions in marriage are self-evident or insignificant. WE VALUE THE GIFT OF LIFE - SIX WEEKS AFTER CONCEPTION
Hi My Spiritual Friends! It has only been six weeks since my conception and doctors detected my brain waves this week. I am starting to move a little bit, too. My fingers and toes are forming, as are my ears, nose and elbows. Sometimes my mom feels a little pain in her back and stomach, but that is normal. My mom is feeling uncomfortable and has morning sickness. “He asked life of you; and you gave it to Him” (Psalms 21:5)

By praying and giving with Operation Rice Bowl, you too are shouldering their burden and expressing a profound message of solidarity.

MARRIAGE TIP: “Ever felt like picking a fight with your spouse? Just say, ‘I’m cranky.’ They’ll ask why, and that’s when you get to let it all out – but more like a report instead of an attack. Your mate can be the comforter and you’ll still get to vent, but without the damaging consequences of a [...]. Find more Marriage Rx at www.foryourmarriage.org.

WE VALUE THE GIFT OF LIFE - FIVE WEEKS AFTER CONCEPTION
Hello Friends, during this week alone, I doubled in size. My mom had an ultra-sound today and could see my head and spinal column. The umbilical cord that connects me to my mom is transporting oxygen and nutrients to me now. My hands and feet are starting to develop and my heart has two chambers. The main air passages are present in my lungs and the hemispheres that make up my brain are growing. Though my conception was only five weeks ago, I now have intestines, an appendix and a pancreas. Jesus said “…I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)

AFTERTHOUGHS CONCERT: A free concert at St. Joseph’s Church, Dannemora on Sunday, March 20th at 2 PM sponsored by the Community Action Ministry of Saranac, Redford and Dannemora. Donations of non-perishable goods to benefit JCEO Food Pantries are welcome. Reception to follow the concert.

WE VALUE THE GIFT OF LIFE -FOUR WEEKS AFTER CONCEPTION
Dear Spiritual Friends, three weeks and one day after my life started at conception, my heart started to beat. It is too quiet to hear, but God knows it is beating. With the right equipment the contractions of my heart can be seen. My eyes are forming and my limbs are growing, too. I am 10,000 times bigger than I was at conception. “Thus says the Lord who made you, your help, who
formed you from the womb; fear not ...” (Isaiah 44:2)

Hello spiritual friends, I was conceived three weeks ago. My heart is taking shape and the Lord has so much love for me. My brain, spinal cord and bone formation are beginning to develop. My skeleton is also taking shape. Did you know that the word “fetus” is Latin for “little one”? . “My very self you knew; my bones were not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, fashioned as in the depths of the earth.” (Psalm 139:14-15)
