Mission Intention for June: That priests, united to the Sacred Heart of Christ, may always be true witnesses to the caring and merciful of God.

CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS: Thank you for your contribution to help strengthen the Church at home! Your generosity will provide much-needed training for lay persons in parishes that rarely see priests, aid to parishes struggling to keep their doors open, and support for many other essential pastoral works in poor dioceses across the United States. To learn more about Home Missions funding and who the Appeal helps, please visitwww.usccb.org/nationalcollections.

MEMORIAL DAY: On Memorial Day we remember those who fought in the wars of our country . These men and women demonstrated the highest form of faith in the triumph of good over evil. As we remember them it is important that we also remember those of our parish who fought in these wars and who are buried in St. James Cemetery. Let us be thankful for their generous service to all of us, and let us pray for them as we visit their graves:

HOLY DAY: The Feast of the Ascension of the Lord will be observed as a Holy Day of Obligation on Thursday, May 1st. Masses for this day will be at 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM.

MARRIAGE TIP: Weekly Date Idea: Try a theme date like one around “quarters.” Think of all the things you can do that use quarters, like play a juke box, wash the car, take your picture together at a photo booth, play video games at an arcade. Find more Marriage Rx atwww.foryourmarriage.org.

For several weeks now, I have had all the body parts required to experience pain. . On you I have relied since my birth, since my mother's womb you have been my portion, the constant theme of my praise. (Psalm 71:6

Mission Intention for May
That the Lord may help the Church in China persevere in fidelity to the Gospel and grow in unity.

CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS: There are many dioceses right here in the United States whose parishes struggle to keep their doors open. These dioceses are classified as home missions and cannot maintain pastoral programs like catechesis, youth ministry, and seminary formation on their own. The Catholic Home Missions Appeal supports these dioceses by funding essential ministries, including aid to vulnerable parishes. The Appeal this weekend is to support these churches.

WE VALUE THE GIFT OF LIFE: FOURTEEN WEEKS AFTER CONCEPTION
Hello Spiritual Friends, it has been fourteen weeks since I was conceived. I am almost five inches long and my legs are now longer than my arms. When I am awake, I move my arms and legs a lot. My mom felt a fluttering in her stomach today – she doesn’t know it, but that was me! My mother’s doctor encourages her to enjoy frequent, healthy snacks throughout the day to keep us healthy. Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you came to birth I consecrated you; I appointed you as prophet to the nations. (Jeremiah 1:5)

CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS: The Catholic Home Missions Appeal works to support home mission dioceses in the United States that are unable to fund important pastoral works including lay ministry training. Home mission dioceses rely on lay ministers, because parishes are often hundreds of miles apart and priests cannot get to every parish each weekend. Please help strengthen the Church at home through your generosity to this Appeal next weekend.

WE VALUE THE GIFT OF LIFE: THIRTEEN WEEKS AFTER CONCEPTION
Hello Spiritual Friends, thank you for praying for me and watching my development. Life is truly a gift from our creative, loving God. This is week thirteen of my development and I am about four inches long. On an ultrasound, you could watch me sucking my thumb. My mother’s doctor advised her not to sleep on her back or stomach –doing so would put too much pressure on her uterus. “Honor your mother, and do not abandon her as long as she lives… Remember … she went through many trials for your sake while you were in her womb.” (Tobit 4:3-4)

BIRTHRIGHT VOLUNTEER TRAINING: When you hear of someone who is pregnant and in difficulties, do you want to help her quietly in practical ways that respect her dignity and her baby’s life? Consider joining Birthright. Training will be held on Saturday, May 21 starting at 9:30 am running till 3:00 pm. For information and to reserve your place please call and arrange an interview with the training chairman, Anne Marie Healey at the BIRTHRIGHT OFFICE (563-4300), 66 Clinton Street, Plattsburgh or at home (834-7091), 183 Hill St, Keeseville.

MARRIAGE TIP: If you made a list of reasons why any couple got married, and another list of the reasons for their divorce, you’d have a lot of overlap. Often the very trait that you admired eventually gets on your nerves because your spouse overdeveloped that quality. Adjust. Find more Marriage Rx atwww.foryourmarriage.org.

CONFIRMATION: This weekend we welcome Bishop Terry LaValley and 23 of our teenage girls and boys who will received the Sacrament of Confirmation, the sacrament by which these young persons will publicly confirmed their Catholic faith and religion. They have prepared for this decision by two years of classes of study of the Catholic faith. Each of them have completed at least 25 hours of projects in which they have freely provided spiritual and corporal works of mercy to others. We thank them for having been faithful to their classes, their assignments and their written projects. We also thank Mrs. Kelly LaFranca for her assistance in the preparation.

WE VALUE THE GIFT OF LIFE: TWELVE WEEKS AFTER CONCEPTION
Dear Spiritual Friends, twelve weeks ago, I was conceived. I am really moving around now and I change position as many as twenty times an hour. My mother cannot feel me yet, but she can see me moving around on an ultrasound. If my mom wants to, she could find out if I am a boy or girl. My face is so well formed now that it is possible to notice family resemblances.. ”For the spirit of God
has made me, the breath of the Almighty keeps me alive.” (Job 33:4)
