BISHOP’S FUND APPEAL: The Bishop’s Fund Appeal provides us the opportunity to share our blessings with others as we continually serve those who most need our help throughout the Diocese of Ogdensburg. We have great hope that together we will be successful in 2012. Please respond as generously as possible when you receive your request from Bishop LaValley asking for your support of this year’s Appeal.
LABOR DAY CELEBRATION: Labor Day Celebration to benefit Holy Name School in AuSable Forks will be on Labor Day, Monday September 3rd starting at 10:00 AM with a parade. This marks the 100th year of Catholic education in the AuSable Forks area. Chicken Bar-B-Q from 2-4 PM. There will be games for children, a classic car show and more.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION 2012-13: Registration forms for 2012-13 Religious Education grades 1-5 are available at the entrance to the church. The Religious Education Program for Grades 1-5 will be held on Thursdays whenever the Saranac Central School is in session. The first class will be Thursday, October 4th. Parents are requested to pick up a form for each child in Grades 1-5. Complete the form and place it in the box designated for this purpose at the entrance to the Church by Sunday September 16. St. James Religious Education is for St. James parishioners only. Continuing classes for Confirmation preparation will begin on Sunday, October 7 at 6:30. Parents of students in grades 6-8 will meet on Sunday, October 7 at 2:00 PM at St. James Parish Center.

MARRIAGE JUBILEE: The Diocese has announced that they will hold the annual Marriage Jubilee Mass this year on September 30th at 2:30 pm at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg. This event is a wonderful opportunity for those couples who are newly married to come together and celebrate with couples who have truly lived the sacrament of marriage. All couples are welcome. Couples celebrating jubilees and wishing to receive a certificate need to register for this event through the parish before September 18th
GLUTEN-FREE HOSTS AVAILABLE: If you are in need of a gluten-free Communion host, please advise Father Deno before the Mass you attend, and the special host will be set aside for you.
FORMING CONSCIENCES: The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has developed resources to assist Catholics to become informed about issues which are particularly important during this election year. The focus areas are: respect for the dignity of each person, focus on the common good, and responsibility to participate in the civic life of this nation. BAPTISM: Stella Noelle Mickalonis, daughter of Joshua and Elizabeth (Merrill) Mickalonis became a member of the Catholic community through the Sacrament of Baptism on July 29th.
