SAINT PAUL - DID YOU KNOW....
When the king of Damascus tried to kill him, St. Paul’s friends had him climb into a basket, then they lowered him from the window in the city walls to safety.
St. Paul studied with a prominent rabbi, Gamaliel, in Jerusalem when he was a teenager.
St. Paul had at least one sister who lived in Jerusalem.  When Paul’s enemies planned to ambush and murder him, his sister’s son warned him and the Roman authorities.
St. Paul’s first convert was Lydia, a business woman who sold purple cloth.
St. Paul is represented by a sword. Around 67 AD, as a Roman citizen, Paul could not be crucified nor stoned, but rather was accorded the “honor” of beheading by a sword.
St. Paul wrote 13 letters to communities or individuals.  These are in the Bible. They make up one-third of the New Testamen

THE FEAST OF THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST:  In 1836 the American Bishops said:  In the Gospel of St. John we read, Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen, I say unto you, except you eat the flesh of the son of man, and drink his blood you shall not have life in you.(Jn 6:54). How many sources of grace are thus opened to us for the several circumstances in which we may be placed? Again therefore, beloved; entreating, we exhort you not to despise the mercy of our God; no to reject the bounties of Christ, not to neglect the means of salvation thus placed within your reach. Not only for your own sakes, but for the sake of your children, of your families, of the whole Church of Christ are you, especially the heads of those families, bound to have recourse to such of those divine institutions as are befitting your circumstances. (from a Pastoral Letter issued by Third Provincial Council of Baltimore, April 22, 1836)
