CATHOLIC COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN: Help Us Connect the World with God’s Word! If Jesus Christ were on earth today, how would he spread his message? The Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC) believes Jesus would use every means available, so it makes use of media outlets to evangelize and promote gospel values. You can truly make a difference right here in our diocese through your donation to today’s Collection and assist the only Catholic University founded by our Bishops, The Catholic University of America. THE GABRIEL PROJECT: The Gabriel Project supports any woman in a crisis pregnancy that chooses life for her child. Through caring “Gabriel Angels” who are paired with expectant mothers and offer their friendship and spiritual guidance both during and after pregnancy. They offer encouragement and material help, if need be, to expectant mothers. The English word angel comes from a Greek work that means “messenger”. A biblical angel is a messenger from God. That is why the word angel is such an apt term for the Gabriel volunteer, who brings God’s blessings to the women – the “moms,” as they are called in the Project – who seek help. On Wednesday June 24th at 7:00 pm in the basement of Our Lady of Victory Church there will be a get together for all women interested in learning more about being a “Gabriel Angel” or being involved in the Gabriel Project.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: On this feast day, the Christian Community proclaims that the Eucharist is its all, its very life, the source of life that triumphs over death” (Pope Benedict XVI, Corpus Christi, 2006). Eucharistic Adoration is held throughout the year every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6 am to 9 pm at St. John’s Church Adoration Chapel, downstairs. Everyone is invited to spend some quiet time with Jesus anytime during these hours. Prayer for a New Bishop

Almighty Father,
for one hundred thirty-seven years you have sent
to the Church of Ogdensburg shepherds after your
own heart.

Send forth the Holy Spirit upon Pope Benedict,
that he might choose for us a new Bishop,
full of courage in preaching the Gospel,
wisdom in governing the Church,
and zeal in leading us in the paths of holiness.

Grant to the man you will send to us
the protection of our Lady of the Immaculate Conception,
our Mother and our Patroness.

We make this prayer through her Son,
Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen.

THE NAME OF GOD: The U.S. bishops’ Committee on Divine Worship recently announced a new directive from the Vatican regarding the use of the name of God in the sacred liturgy. Specifically, the word "Yahweh" may no longer be "used or pronounced" in songs and prayers during liturgical celebrations. The decision was based on long-standing Jewish and Christian traditions of not pronouncing the divine name wherever it occurs in the biblical text. You may notice some small changes to a few songs that are sung during Mass from what is printed in your missals or hymnals. Unfortunately, at the time the directive was announced, our 2009 missals had already been printed. The 2010 missal editions will include revised versions of the songs with updated texts.

Mission Intention for June
That international attention give rise to more concrete assistance to poorer countries, particular, in relieving them of the crushing burden of foreign debt.

CATHOLIC COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN: Help Us Connect the World with God’s Word! Next week’s Collection is for the Catholic Communication Campaign/Catholic University of America. Through your generous donations, CCC is able to spread the gospel message in our community and all over the world. CCC funds the development of traditional and new media programs that inspire and minister to their audiences. This collection not only supports national Catholic media initiatives and our own diocesan paper the North Country Catholic but also Catholic University of America. Please give generously in next week’s Collection to help us spread the Good News.

MOST HOLY TRINITY: Through the example of one candle lighting a thousand we are able to better appreciate the Gospel. After the Resurrection, Jesus summons the eleven disciples to a mountain in Galilee. There, he gives them the Great Commission, to go out into the world and baptize all in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Jesus could have appeared to thousands, yet he knew these eleven "candles" would be capable of following his commandments and spreading his promise of eternal life. Today is the feast of the Most Holy Trinity, a remembrance of Christ's directive of a new mission for his followers to baptize in the name of the
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This mandate is our invitation to join in the one family of God, fully united and complete. Two thousand years ago, eleven men set out, tasked with beginning the fulfilment of the New Covenant by
bringing all who would believe into the loving arms of God. Today, turn to others and offer them the light of life.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: Behold the Delight of heaven, behold your God Himself, behold all the Most Holy Trinity in the divine Sacrament! (St. Leonard of Port Maurice). Eucharistic Adoration is held throughout the year every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6 am to 9 pm at St. John’s Church Adoration Chapel, downstairs. Everyone is invited to spend some quiet time with Jesus anytime during these hours. For more information about spending a special hour with Jesus weekly, or becoming a substitute, please call 561-5083 or email us at Sjohnsadoration@aol.com

THANKS FOR THE BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS: We would like to thank Judy Bassett for the beautiful flowers that are in the planters in front of the Church, the Rectory and Parish Center. We would also thank her for the time and effort which she weekly gives them in watering and trimming them for the entire weeks of summer.

PRAYER FOR A NEW BISHOP: With the installation of Bishop Cunningham as the Tenth Bishop of Syracuse, the See of Ogdensburg is sede vacante (literally, “vacant seat”). On May 28, the Diocesan College of Consultors elected Father Terry R. LaValley to serve as the Diocesan Administrator. He will be the caretaker of the Diocese until the appointment of a new Bishop.
This is a special time of prayer for the diocesan community, much like that of the first believers who prayed for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on their community.
