That Sunday may be lived as the day when Christians gather to celebrate the resurrection of the Lord by participating in the Eucharist.
OUR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS -- PARTNERS IN MISSION: The Catholic Schools of the diocese are embarking on an active campaign to increase enrolment and to help people understand the unique value of Catholic schools. On October 1 at the Seton Catholic Gymnasium at 7 pm, this program, entitled "Partners in Mission," will be explained. You are invited to come to this meeting to discover how we can keep the value of Catholic schools alive in the hearts of the all.
PRAYER BEFORE DRIVING: God, thank you for the gift of transportation. Help us to stay safe as we journey on the roads today, and let us be good examples to others as we go out into the world. Amen.

Pledge cards and envelopes are located at the back of the Church. Online giving is also available at www.dioogdensburg.org/development. Thank you once again for your generosity and support. To everyone who has made a gift or pledge, thank you for making a difference in the lives of thousands of people across our diocese.
PRAYER FOR OUR RELIGION TEACHERS
Loving God, from the beginning you have raised up among us holy men and women to guide us and teach us along your way of truth. Again today, you have called forth from this community of faith men and women willing and able to give witness to your love and the truth. We ask that you strengthen them and give them the courage they need to be catechists. Open our hearts so that, through them, we may better know and follow your life of love. Amen.

DEACON ORDINATION: On Saturday, September 19th at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Ogdensburg 12 men will be ordained Permanent Deacons among whom are members of local parishes: Marvin Connor, Jack Cogan, Jack Lukasiewicz and Mark Bennett. Their ordination is the culmination of
more than four years of study, training and spiritual formation for ordained ministry, which they will carry out in parishes in the Diocese. Deacons are the third level of the Sacrament of Holy Orders, after that of Bishop and priest. Deacons are ordained to assist priests and Bishop in a variety of ministries. Soon after Jesus died the Apostles chose reputable men to assist them in preaching the Gospel, baptizing those who accepted the faith. They came to be known as Deacons from the Greek word used to describe their service and ministry.Nowadays, most deacons in the U.S. are married men who serve as deacons in addition to their other responsibilities of job and family life. While only priests are able to celebrate Mass and forgive sins, ordination to the diaconate empowers the deacon to preach the gospel, baptize, witness marriages, lead the funeral and burial rites, offer Benediction and give blessings in the name of Christ and the Church. Deacons are a great help in meeting the spiritual and pastoral needs of all our parishioners

BACK TO SCHOOL PRAYER
God of all wisdom, you formed humankind in your own likeness and gave us an intellect to help us know you, our Creator, and the world you made. As we begin this new academic year, enlighten the minds of students with the inquisitiveness that seeks ever greater knowledge and understanding. Give teachers and professors the wisdom needed to guide the intellectual endeavors of those entrusted to them. Help all who fund and support education to recognize the value of discovering more about the world you have created and so draw ever closer to you, our Maker. Amen.
BATTLE OF PLATTSBURGH: The Battle of Plattsburgh commemoration events will be held September 7-13. Re-enactment is Saturday, September 12 at 1:00 with parade at 2:00 PM
