VISITING A CEMETERY DURING MONTH OF NOVEMBER: The custom of visiting the cemetery and praying for the dead can be traced to the women who returned to the tomb of Jesus Easter morning to mourn and complete the preparation of His body for burial. Then and there they discovered that He had been raised from the dead. Today, our visits to the cemetery are prompted by our love and faith. We come to remember, to mourn, to give thanks for the life our beloved shared with us, to pray for peaceful rest in death, and to strength en our belief that oPne day we will be united with our beloved in Eternal Life.

MARRIAGE TIP: During the month of November remember those who have died. Spend a moment today praying together for your relatives and friends who have passed on.  Find more Marriage Rx at www.foryourmarriage.org.

IMPORTANCE OF SUNDAY WORSHIP: Pope Francis emphasized that Sunday must be protected as a day of worship.  He stated that we live in such a busy world that modern Christians need an appointment with the Lord to give them a sense of direction and help them move beyond “the bustle of everyday life”.  Pope Francis said that Sunday was “the Church’s weekly feast of creation”. He said that the first day of the week saw the dawning of creation: “Let there be light….” “This feast of thanksgiving and joy over God’s creation” should be celebrated with gratitude and praise.  Living in the North Country helps us to appreciate God’s beauty and to celebrate the Eucharist with gratitude.

FAITHFUL CITIZENS: By our baptism, Catholics are committed to following Jesus Christ and to be salt for the earth, light for the nations. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us, It is necessary that all participate, according to his/her position and role, in promoting the common good. This is inherent in the dignity of the human person. As far as possible citizens should take an active part in public life. Regardless of political party responsible citizenship is a virtue, and participation in political life is a moral obligation. We thank the following St. James Parishioners who are seeking to provide responsible public service through election on Tuesday:
John Bernardi
Sherman DuBrey
James Facteau
Joe Gerardi
Ellen LaMora
Roman Miner
BAPTISM:Addyson Debra Recore became a member of the Catholic community through the Sacrament of Baptism on October 27th.
CATHOLIC CALENDARS:  Calendars for 2014 indicating the special holy days and saints of the Catholic Church are available for your home or workplace. This year they are on the theme of Christian stewardship.

MARRIAGE TIP: Sometimes the main difference between a happy marriage and a troubled one is preserving an attitude of “goodwill” when one makes a mistake. How does one build goodwill? By constantly looking for the good rather than the fault and creating a “bank account” of positive experiences. Find more Marriage Rx at www.foryourmarriage.org.

PLANNING FOR DEATH IS NATURAL: Planning for death is as natural for the Christian as planning for life.  As stated in 1 Timothy 5:8, if anyone does not take care of his own, and especially of his household; he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.  Having a Will is good Stewardship.  Take care of your family.
