Mission Intention for April
That Christians persecuted for the sake of the Gospel may persevere, sustained by the Holy Spirit, in their faithful witness to the love of God for all.

Prayer for Bishop-elect LaValley
God, eternal Shepherd,
you have chosen your servant Terry
to watch over the your flock
and to pastor the Church of Ogdensburg.
Help him to respond wholeheartedly
to your call, “Follow me.”
Among us and for us,
may he be a faithful teacher,
a wise administrator and a holy priest.
Enrich him with the gifts and virtues of a true apostle,
for the good of your people in the North Country.
May he, and all those in his care,
show forth the living presence of Christ in the world;
and come to the joy of everlasting life
in your verdant pastures.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

AT HOME WITH OUR FAITH: The April issue of At Home with Our Faith is now available at the entrance to the church.

THANKS: I am most appreciative to all parishioners who assisted in a variety of ways in making the Liturgy and prayers of Holy Week and Easter memorable for their spirituality, and transition from Lent to the Easter. This includes the Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Altar Servers, director of music and choir, those who helped beautify the altar, and those who polished and picked up St. James’s Church from day to day. Also, many thanks to all of you who provided donations for the flowers.

BLESSING OF A HOME AT EASTER: (Gather the family together in a favorite room. Bring the container of Easter Water. Choose one person to lead the following prayer.)
Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have received all benefits. Come, visit and bless + this home so that it may be a shelter of love, health, humility, goodness, mildness, joy, peace and thanksgiving to God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. May the love and blessings of God, + the Father, and Son, and the Holy Spirit, descend upon this home, all those who live within it, and upon all those whom we welcome in the Name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. And may God’s grace and peace remain with all of us for ever. Amen.

All pray the OUR FATHER as the rooms of the house are sprinkled with Easter water. (Keep the left over Easter water for blessings on special occasions )

MARRIAGE TIP: The Golden Rule says, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” But consider this Marriage Rule, “Do unto your beloved whatever your spouse would have you do. Find more Marriage Rx at www.foryourmarriage.org.

EASTER EGGS: Did you know that Easter Eggs originated in northern Europe soon after Christianity was established there? Always regarded as symbols of spring and new life, the egg also represents the stone tomb left empty when Christ rose from the dead. At one time, eggs were even forbidden during Lent. To eat an egg on Easter became something to celebrate. It is little wonder the custom of decorating eggs for such a festive occasion became a custom we still follow today.

EASTER LILY: Did you know that the Easter lily has always been a traditional symbol of beauty, perfection, purity and goodness? With a beautiful spring bloom known as a trumpet, and such a sweet fragrance, it has become a true symbol of jubilation. It is as welcome after the winter snows as the Easter Alleluia!

A BLESSED EASTER TO ALL!

CATHOLIC RELIEF SERIVCES: Today, we take up the Catholic Relief Services Collection. You are invited to give hope to Jesus in disguise. Give hope to the community that has lost its livelihood to a crop disease. Give hope to the refugee child, separated from her mother. Give hope
to the immigrant, trying to keep faith alive in a foreign land. The Catholic Relief Services Collection helps to fund programs that give hope to refugees, immigrants, and the impoverished, including victims of war, natural disaster, and drought. The rough humanitarian, economic, pastoral, and advocacy e orts, TheCatholic Relief Services Collection gives hope. Please be generous in today’s Collection.

WHY IS THE ALTAR REVERENCED? When the ministers (priest, altar servers, lector, Eucharistic minister) have processed to the front of the church, all except those carrying the cross bow to the altar. As they go to their places the priest presider goes behind the altar and bows and kisses it before going to his chair. The altar is a symbol of the Body of Christ. As such we reverence it. We do not treat it like an ordinary table, but place on it only those things needed for the celebration of the Eucharistic liturgy such as the chalice and purificator, the corporal, the bread and wine, and the Sacramentary from which the priest will lead us in the prayers.

The Census information collected helps to determine how $400 billion annually is allocated across the country for neighborhood improvements, public health, education, and transportation.
The Glens Falls office of the US Census is recruiting residents of Clinton, Essex, Fulton, Hamilton, Saratoga, Warren, and Washington counties. Field work starts at $13/hour plus 50 cents per mile. Simply call 1-866-861-2010 to schedule an easy half-hour test. A practice test is available atwww.2010censusjobs.gov. It is important for the accuracy and cost-effectiveness of this operation to hire citizens within their own communities, rather than hiring from outside.
