BAPTISM: Madeline Rae Newcombe, daughter of Barry and Marcia (Rice) Newcombe became a member of the Catholic community through the Sacrament of Baptism on October 21st CHAMPLAIN VALLEY RIGHT TO LIFE: The Champlain Valley Right to Life meets on the second Wednesday of the month at St. John’s Church, Plattsburgh at 7:00 PM. All are welcomed to attend these meetings. THROUGH DEATH TO LIFE: All Souls Day is Friday, November 2nd. We pray during the month of November for our sisters and brothers whose bodies lie in rest. They have passed from death to life in company with the Lord Jesus, who died and rose to new life. They are purified now of their faults. We pray that God may welcome them among the saints in heaven. The 8:30 AM Mass on All Souls Day is in honor of all who have had a funeral Mass at St. James, or have been buried in St. James Cemetery since November 1, 2011. May their souls and the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. MARRIAGE TIP: As tragic as divorce is, married couples can learn from divorced friends and relatives. Consider talking to a divorced friend and ask what he or she learned from the experience.. At certain times in the history of the Catholic Church, popes have called upon the faithful to dedicate themselves to deepening their understanding of a particular aspect of the faith. The upcoming Year of Faith is a “summons to an authentic and renewed conversion to the Lord, the One Savior of the world”. In other words, the Year of Faith is an opportunity for Catholics to experience a conversion – to turn back to Jesus and enter into a deeper relationship with him. The “door of faith” is opened at one’s baptism, but during this year Catholics are called to open it again, walk through it and rediscover and renew their relationship with Christ and his Church. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS IN ACTION: The Msgr. Claude A. Gobet Knights of Columbus Council 6067 is made up of men from the parishes of St James and St Alexander’s who help their church, parishes and communities. Members from the Council will be available after all Masses at St James next weekend to hand out information and accept applications. We invite men of the parish to discover the opportunities available to serve their Church, families and friends in the Knights. CRAFT SHOW: The Ladies of St. Ann, Mooers Forks will have a Craft Show and Bake Sale on Saturday, October 20 at the St. Joseph Parish Center, 73 Maple Street, Mooers 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. ALL SOULS: All Souls Day, November 2nd, is a solemn feast in the Catholic Church commemorating all of those who have died and now are in Purgatory being cleansed of their sins before entering fully into Heaven. Catholics often remember these persons by requesting Masses be offered for them. Envelopes are available for you to write your requests.
