The Young Adult Ministry webpage is offering an online Lenten retreat with a series of Lenten Reflections. The retreat director for this prayerful experience is Father Timothy Canaan, Pastor of St. John the Baptist and Blessed John XXIII Newman Center in Plattsburgh, NY. Father Timothy also serves the Diocese of Ogdensburg as the Diocesan Director of Campus Ministry.

DISRUPTING CHURCH SERVICES: Those of you at the 4:00 PM Mass last weekend were abused and mistreated because of the angry, undignified language and actions of one individual. In the future should such an event take place in this or any Catholic Church please take suitable action, preferably making contact with the appropriate law enforcement agency. You do not need the “permission” of the Pastor. New York State Law states: A person is guilty of aggravated disorderly conduct, who makes unreasonable noise or disturbance while at a lawfully assembled religious service or within one hundred feet thereof, with intent to cause annoyance or alarm or recklessly creating a risk thereof.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: Believe and adore the true sun that is Christ. (St. Patrick) Eucharistic Adoration is held throughout the year every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6 am to 9 pm at St. John’s Church Adoration Chapel, downstairs. Everyone is invited to spend some quiet time with Jesus anytime during these hours. For more information about spending a special hour with Jesus weekly, or becoming a substitute, please call 561-5083 or email us at Sjohnsadoration@aol.com

THE NORTH COUNTRY CATHOLIC: We are continuing the North Country Catholic subscription campaign. If you have not yet subscribed to our diocesan newspaper, we would ask you to do so today. The paper is a source of information, evange-lization and unity for all the Catholics in our diocese. Please place your subscription envelope in the collection basket.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS: Public Stations of the Cross will be held each Friday of Lent at 7:00 PM at St. James Church. Please try to include these as part of your Lenten prayer.

THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT: Today's Gospel reading from John recounts Jesus' visit to the Temple in Jerusalem shortly before Passover. There, he finds that the house of his Father has been allowed to be used as a marketplace. In one of the Gospel's rare descriptions of Jesus showing anger and emotion, he turns over the tables and drives the vendors out of the Temple with a whip. But when asked by the elders as to what authority he has to do this, Jesus proclaims that when they tear down the temple, he will rebuild it in three days. He is of course referring to his own body, the temple of the Lord, and his impending death and resurrection. If we truly understand that our bodies are temples, places where God resides in our hearts and souls, then let's turn over those tables of wickedness and sin that dwell within us, and drive them from the temple of the Lord.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION: The family of Leona O’Connell is inviting you to a 100th Birthday gathering for her at the St. James Parish Center on Sunday March 15th from 1:00-4:00 PM
