Mission Intention for September
That by opening our hearts in love, we put an end to the numerous wars and conflicts that continue to bloody our world.
PRE-SCHOOL OPENINGS: Seton Academy has a few pre-school openings since some students who were enrolled have moved away. There are options for 2 days, 3 days, 4 days, or 5 days. The child must be 4 years old by December 1. For more information call the school office at 825-7386. Be part of the Seton Academy family!
BISHOP’S FUND APPEAL: The 2101 Bishop’s Fund will soon be underway. Through your support and generosity the Bishop’s Fund Appeal is able to reach out to thousands of North Country people across the Diocese of Ogdensburg. The goal for this year is $1,200,000 to support the nineteen agencies and programs. The goal for St. James Parish for the 2010 Bishop’s Fund Appeal is $7,223. Last year 113 families from the parish participated and contributed $7,445. The Bishop’s Fund Appeal provides us the opportunity to share our blessings with others as we continually serve those who most need our help throughout the Diocese of Ogdensburg. We have great hope that we will be successful once again in 2010. Many of you will receive letters and envelopes by mail from the Bishop’s Fund. Envelopes are also available at the entrance to the church. Checks should be made out to the Bishop’s Fund and not to St. James Parish. They can be sent directly to the Ogdensburg office. Please respond as generously as possible when you receive your request from Bishop LaValley asking for your support of this year’s appeal.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION REGISTRATION: Registration forms for St. James Parish Religious Education Program are available at the entrance to the Church. Parents are requested to pick up a form for each child in Grades 1-5. Complete the form and place it in the box designated for this purpose at the entrance to the Church. Include with the form a book fee of $20. Parents of these children must be registered members of St. James Parish. The Religious Education classes begin on Thursday, October 7th. (Parents of children in Grades 6-7-8 will meet in St. James Parish Center on Sunday, September 26 at 2:00 pm. The second year of Confirmation preparation classes for students enrolled in this class last year will begin on Sunday, October 3rd.)

MARRIAGE JUBILEE MASS. The Diocese is pleased to announce the annual Marriage Jubilee Mass to honor those couples in our Diocese who are observing significant wedding anniversaries. The Family Life Office sees this event as a wonderful opportunity for those couples who are newly married to come together and celebrate with couples who have truly lived the sacrament of matrimony. All married couples are welcomed to come together with their families for this event to be held on Sunday September 26th 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral Ogdensburg, New York. Couples celebrating jubilees (e.g. 25,30,35,40,45,50) and wishing to receive a certificate need to register for this event through the parish before September 14th. Sign up sheets for the Marriage Jubilee Mass are available at the rectory.
MASS TIMES WHILE TRAVELLING: Parishioners who are travelling may call 1-800-627-7847 (1-800-MASSTIMES) or www.masstimes.org for the location and schedule of Masses in Catholic Churches throughout the USA and other countries.
MARRIAGE TIP: Regardless of which spouse makes the money or spends it, regard any income as “ours.” Assume that both spouses contribute to the household either by money or in-kind service, and that decisions about expenditures should be joint ones. Find more Marriage Rx atwww.foryourmarriage.org.
