RALLY TO PROTECT OUR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM AND VALUES: The Knights of Columbus of the North Country invite Catholics to participate in an August 11th Prayer Rally. Responding to the Bishops of our nation, Catholics from parishes throughout the Diocese of Ogdensburg will unite in prayer at St. Mary’s Cathedral on Sunday, August 11th to witness the significant role we play in our society. The rally will begin at 2 PM outside St. Mary’s Cathedral at the Monument to the Unborn. Following brief remarks, participants will proceed inside the Cathedral for recitation of the rosary.

BEAUTY OF BELIEF: What do a Bach concerto and the Sistine Chapel have in common? They all give us a taste of Beauty. To showcase the Beauty of the North Country Bishop LaValley and the Diocese of Ogdensburg is hosting artists and musicians for a celebration of Art and Music on Sunday, August 18th at SUNY Potsdam’s Hosmer Hall and Gallery. The event will feature musicians sharing high quality vocal and instrumental pieces that are sacred and spiritually influenced as well as artists sharing the beauty of faith through visual art. Doors to the gallery entrance will open at 3pm to view the visual art and the concert will begin at 4pm. Everyone is welcome.

SETON CATHOLIC CENTRAL SCHOOL: Good news from Seton Catholic! The school has recently hired a new full time art and a new full time music teacher. Both are New York State certified with masters degrees in their areas. In the fall, Seton will begin to offer instrumental lessons within the school day. If anyone has any musical instruments they would be willing to donate to get the program going, the school would greatly appreciate it. Please contact the school at 561-4031.
