Mission Intention for January: That all may promote authentic economic development that respects the dignity of all peoples.

MARCH FOR LIFE: The bus for the Washington Rally and March for Life will leave Tuesday, January 21 at 7:30 PM at St. Peter’s Church. It will leave Washington on Wednesday, January 22nd for return trip. To reserve a seat or to obtain more information, please contact Karen Smith at 566-6229. The cost of the trip is $30.

STATEMENT OF GIVING FOR INCOME TAXES:  If you wish to receive a statement of your financial contributions to St. James Church for 2013, please indicate this on your Sunday offering envelope so that we can assure confidentiality.

CHRISTMAS COLLECTION: Thank you for your VERY generous contribution of $3,894 in our Christmas collection.  Like every North Country parish we forward 100% of the collection to the diocese to fund pensions for retired priests.  Pension needs for the future as well as obligations for the next year are being met thanks to your generous donation.

EPIPHANY OF THE LORD:  On this first Lord’s Day of 2014 we come together in joy to celebrate the festival of the Epiphany of the Lord.  Today is the high point of the Christmas season and one of the greatest days of the year.  A shining star in the heavens proclaims the good news that Jesus Christ is the new-born Saviour.  You will notice that the  Bible readings overflow with superlatives.

PRAYER OF BLESSING OF THE HOME AT EPIPHANY
Lord our God, bless this household.
May we be blessed with health, goodness of
heart, gentleness, and the keeping of your law.
We give thanks to you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Amen

HEALING MINISTRY: Living Waters Healing Ministry Mass at St. Alexander’s Church, Morrisonville, First Thursday of every month at 6:30 PM.

MARRIAGE TIP:“Persevere in prayer.” (Romans 12: 12) What if I (or we) haven’t been praying – at least not regularly? Does grace before meals count? What about Mass or other religious services? These are all good, of course, but try praying daily, maybe even together Find more Marriage Rx at www.foryourmarriage.org.

OFFERTORY ENVELOPES: You will find your box of Offertory envelopes for 2014 at the entrance to the church. Extra boxes are available for those of you who do not have a designated box. Youth envelopes are also available. Please pick up a box.

NEW BEGINNINGS:  The “New Beginnings” group for divorced or separated individuals has again begun meeting weekly under the direction of Mr. Robert Dominic.  They are held every Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in the Upper room at Saint Peter’s Church.   Anyone interested should contact Deacon Mark  at 563-1692.

STORMY WEATHER: Bishop LaValley of the Diocese of Ogdensburg urges all Catholics to heed local travel advisories and restrictions as indicated by emergency management  officials, including restrictions in travel due to the ice storm warning.  The faithful are encouraged to use prudence and extreme caution when planning to travel to Mass.  Catholics are reminded that the obligation to attend Mass does not apply in those situations where conditions are extremely difficult or dangerous.

GLUTEN FREE HOSTS: If you are in need of a gluten free host, simply inform Fr. Deno before Mass, and he will make sure there is one available for you at Communion.

MARCH FOR LIFE:  March for Life on January 12 starts at The Newman Center, 90 Broad Street at 1:30 and ends at St. John's Church, 20 Broad Street. The march will be followed by a prayer service with Kathleen Gallagher, the director of pro-life activities for the New York State Catholic Conference. Light refreshments will be served in the church basement after the service.
