THE YEAR OF SAINT PAUL:
Before we praise the name of God, we need to know why we are praising God. St. Paul reminded the Romans who they were. With God’s life, they were graced with the presence of Christ living within them. Today St. Paul’s words are also for us. God created us for himself. To seek out the spirit we need to know that God created us not only in the flesh but also in the spirit. The Spirit is greater than the flesh. In today’s 2nd reading from the letter to the Romans, we understand the struggle that our mortal bodies have between the flesh and the spirit. We are invited to look at the cross for divine assistance to help us accept our limitations, realizing that God’s grace is all we need to live the Christian life. St. Paul, Apostle of the Gentiles, pray for us.
