Mission Intention for October
That Sunday may be lived as the day when Christians gather to celebrate the resurrection of the Lord by participating in the Eucharist.

World Mission Sunday: Next Sunday is World Mission Sunday! As Catholics around the world — here at home and in the Missions — gather at the Eucharist around the table of the Lord, we are to pray for the Church’s world-wide missionary work. We pray for the missionaries, and we are to offer financial help through the Society for the Propagation of the Faith for more than 1,150
dioceses in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Pacific Islands.

COMMEMORATION OF THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED: The month of November is dedicated to the memory of our faithful departed. Rooted in ancient Christian tradition memorial Masses are offered for the faithful departed. You will find envelopes at the entrance to our church on which you can mention members of your family and others for whom you would like special prayers during the month of November.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION: At the Baptism of their child parents and godparents accept the responsibility for the religious education of their child. Part of the ceremony of Baptism mentions to parents and godparents: You have come here to present your child for Baptism. On your part you must make it your constant care t bring this child up in the practice of the faith. Catholic parishes also provide help to parents and godparents in this responsibility through religious education programs such as conducted at St. James. This year we are tremendously thankful to the following members of the parish who have volunteered to help parents in the religious education of your child:

Carolyn LaPlante - Grade 1
Joan Herron - Grade 2
Robert Robare - Grade 3
Sandy Jock - Grade 4
Patricia Delisle - Grade 5
Elsie Delaney - Substitute

BISHOPS FUND APPEAL Our parish’s Bishop’s Fund Appeal activity is coming to a close. If you have not yet made a gift or pledge, please pray about your decision and make a pledge or one-time gift. Pledge cards and envelopes are located at the back of the Church. Online giving is also available at www.dioogdensburg.org/development. Thank you once again for your generosity and support. To everyone who has made a gift or pledge, thank you for making a difference in
the lives of thousands of people across our diocese.

CRAFT SHOW: The Ladies of St. Ann, Mooers Forks will have a Craft Show and Bake Sale on Saturday, October 17 at the St. Joseph Parish Center, 73 Maple Street, Mooers 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Crafters interested in renting a space can phone Marge Pombrio at 236-4577.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: Here, in the silence [before the Holy Eucharist], I found my one consolation: Jesus, my only friend. (St. Therese of Lisieux).. Eucharistic Adoration is held throughout the year every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6 am to 9 pm at St. John’s Church Adoration Chapel, downstairs. Everyone is invited to spend some quiet time with Jesus anytime during these hours.

MARRIAGE TIP: What first attracted you to your spouse? Often the very quality that you found so endearing can become the habit that drives you crazy later because it is an over-extension of a strength. Find more Marriage Rx at www.foryourmarriage.org

PARISH FINANCIAL REPORT: Copies of the St. James Parish Financial Report for FY 2008-09 are available at the entrance to the church. This report is a summary of an 8 page comprehensive report sent to the Diocese of Ogdensburg Fiscal Office by August 15th of each year. This report is also a statement of the financial condition of your parish as well as a summary of the quantity of your financial contribution to your parish, and how your contribution has been used over the past 12 months.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION: Students in Grade 8-12 who have not yet been confirmed will participate in a two year Religious Education-Confirmation Preparation program at St. James Parish Center starting October 11th at 7:00 PM

PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY: October 25th is "Priesthood Sunday." As usual, we will be showing our appreciation for our wonderful pastor. Please join us at our Parish Center after the 10:00 o'clock Mass for a continental breakfast to honor Father Deno. Please mark your calendar,
