Mission Intention for April
That Christians persecuted for the sake of the Gospel may persevere, sustained by the Holy Spirit, in their faithful witness to the love of God for all.
BAPTISM: Luke Jacob Garrow, son of Jacob and Ashley (Smith) Garrow became a member of the Catholic community through the Sacrament of Baptism on April 11th.
CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS APPEAL: This year, the Catholic Home Missions Appeal turns its focus to youth ministry, an essential component of the life and vibrancy of the Church. In youth ministry programs, young Catholics grow in faith and gain valuable leadership skills. Without this Appeal, poorer dioceses in the United States cannot sustain vital youth programs. Next week we will take up a collection for this Appeal. Please be generous and help strengthen the Church at home.
ROSARY RALLY: A Rosary Rally for the four Sundays of May will be held at the House of Prayer, Ellenburg Center, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on May 2 - Joyful Mysteries for Life, on May 9 - Luminous Mysteries for all Women, on May 16 - Sorrowful Mysteries for Healing, on May 23 - Glorious Mysteries. Phone Pat at 518-594-3253 with questions.
DISCERNMENT WEEKEND: Come to a quiet place and let the Heart of Jesus speak to your heart! Single, Catholic women are invited to a weekend of prayer and discernment and to spend time letting Jesus love you! Share with the Sisters of St. Joseph in Holy Eucharist, Liturgy of the Hours, the Rosary, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and opportunities to talk and discuss with the Sisters. Saturday, April 24th - Sunday, April 25th Arrive: Saturday, 11:00 pm. Departure: Sunday, 4:00 pm . Please CALL or EMAIL for registration. Contact: Sister Mary Gregory, SSJ, 1425 Washington Street

Prayer for Bishop-elect LaValley
God, eternal Shepherd,
you have chosen your servant Terry
to watch over the your flock
and to pastor the Church of Ogdensburg.
Help him to respond wholeheartedly
to your call, “Follow me.”
Among us and for us,
may he be a faithful teacher,
a wise administrator and a holy priest.
Enrich him with the gifts and virtues of a true apostle,
for the good of your people in the North Country.
May he, and all those in his care,
show forth the living presence of Christ in the world;
and come to the joy of everlasting life
in your verdant pastures.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
AT HOME WITH OUR FAITH: The April issue of At Home with Our Faith is now available at the entrance to the church.
MARRIAGE TIP: “My heart is ever at your service” (William Shakespeare). It may seem like odd English to your ear but there’s something romantic about poetry. Have you ever read poetry to each other?Find more Marriage Rx at www.foryourmarriage.org.
BLESSED BROTHER ANDRÉ TO BE DECLARED A SAINT: Blessed Brother André Bessette, C.S.C., will be canonized, or formally declared a saint, in a ceremony to be held Oct. 17th in Rome by Pope Benedict XVI. Blessed Brother André was a brother of the Congregation of Holy Cross, the religious order which founded the University of Notre Dame, and the founder of St. Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal in Montreal. For information on pilgrimage departing from Montreal on October 14th phone 518-647-8415 orakey3@frontiernet.net.
RECEPTION FOR BISHOP LAVALLEY: Shortly after his ordination as Bishop of Ogdensburg on April 30th, Bishop LaValley will meet Catholics and the general public in each area of the Diocese. The Clinton County gathering will be at an Evening Prayer service in Saint Alexander’s Church, Morrisonville on Monday, May 3rd at 6:30 PM. The prayer will be followed by a public reception at 7:00 PM. Everyone is welcome.
CHAPLET OF DIVINE MERCY
The following is the way to pray the Chaplet (Rosary) of Divine Mercy recommended by Jesus to St. Faustina. Using ordinary Rosary beads:
1. Begin with the Sign of the Cross, 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary and The Apostles Creed.
2. Then on the Our Father Beads say the following: Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
3. On the 10 Hail Mary Beads say the following: For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
(Repeat step 2 and 3 for all five decades).
4. Conclude with (three times): Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
