Mission Intention for May
That the Lord may help the Church in China persevere in fidelity to the Gospel and grow in unity.
MARRIAGE TIP: A rule of thumb in marriage or parenting is to be careful what you take credit for lest you also be willing to take the blame. Often success is earned but sometimes it’s just good luck or good genes. Be humble today. Find more Marriage Rx at www.foryourmarriage.org.
FORMATION FOR MINISTRY: Formation For Ministry is now recruiting candidates for the 2011 – 2013 formation classes. WE VALUE THE GIFT OF LIFE: ELEVEN WEEKS AFTER CONCEPTION
Dear Spiritual Friends, I was conceived eleven weeks ago and continue to grow rapidly. I am twice as big as I was four weeks ago - about the size of a peach! My little face is so cute and my ears are now in place. My mother is starting to lose her waist, but she is eating well and exercising to stay healthy for us.Jesus told Mary “I am the resurrection and the life… everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.” (John 11:25)
BIRTHRIGHT VOLUNTEER TRAINING: When you hear of someone who is pregnant and in difficulties, do you want to help her quietly in practical ways that respect her dignity and her baby’s life? Consider joining Birthright. Training will be held on Saturday, May 21 starting at 9:30 am running till 3:00 pm. For information and to reserve your place please call and arrange an interview with the training chairman, Anne Marie Healey at the BIRTHRIGHT OFFICE (563-4300), 66 Clinton Street, Plattsburgh or at home (834-7091), 183 Hill St, Keeseville.
DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY: The Second Sunday of Easter (Apr 30-May 1) has been named Divine Mercy Sunday, a yearly invitation to Catholics to face, with confidence, the difficulties and trials that persons experience throughout the year. Devotion to Divine Mercy was promoted by Saint Faustina, a Polish nun. Beginning on February 22, 1931, and through her death in 1938, Saint Faustina received revelations and visits from Christ. In 1934, she began recording these in a diary, Divine Mercy in My Soul.
CATHOLIC CHARITIES NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT: The Annual Appeal for Catholic Charities will be taken up in all of the parishes of the diocese on Mother’s Day weekend, May 8, 2011 As a parish family let us support the mission and the works of Catholic Charities. Catholic Charities invites you to visit their website and find out more about the services offered by Catholic Charities in your county and throughout the diocese. 91% of the funds raised go into direct services for people in need. Thank you for being as generous as possible in supporting programs and services that help Catholic Charities bring the compassion of Jesus Christ to our brothers and sisters in need.
