Mission Intention for October: That the terminally ill may be supported by their faith in God and the love of the their sisters and brothers.
NEW PRAYERS, SAME MASS : Beginning with the First Sunday of Advent November 27,2011 Catholics in this country will worship using the new English translation of the Roman Missal, Third Edition. To understand the new prayers take home a copy of the prayer card and booklet at the entrance to the church
WORLD MISSION SUNDAY: Next Sunday, Pope Benedict XVI calls every Catholic in the world to celebrate our vocation to be missionary. It’s World Mission Sunday! As Catholics around the world — here at home and in the Missions — gather at the Eucharist around the table of the Lord, we are to pray for the Church’s worldwide missionary work. We pray for those awaiting the “Good News” of our Lord’s great love for us and for the missionaries who offer the poor and suffering the light of Christ. And we are to offer financial help through the Society for the Propagation of the Faith for more than 1,150 dioceses in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Pacific Islands.
ALL SOULS ENVELOPES: In the Catholic Church the month of November is dedicated to the memory of members of our family, our parish and our community who have died. A way of remembering these persons is through sharing in a Mass for them. Envelopes for All Souls are available at the entrance to the church. With your offering indicate the names in whose memory you wish us to pray.
SISTERS OF ST. JOSEPH DISCERNMENT WEEKEND: Saturday & Sunday October 22-23, 2011 at Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse, Watertown, NY. The weekend will include prayer, discernment, Mass, the Rosary, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and opportunities to talk with the Sisters. Contact: Sister Mary Gregory at 315.782.3460.
MARRIAGE TIP: What prompts your beloved to cry? Nothing? Anything? A sad movie? How do you usually respond? Is it a welcome response?. Find more Marriage Rx at www.foryourmarriage.org.
WE VALUE THE GIFT OF LIFE THIRTY-FIVE WEEKS AFTER CONCEPTION
My Dear Spiritual Friends, my life started 35 weeks ago at my conception and I am only a few short weeks away from my birth. I weigh 6 1/2 pounds and I am 21 inches in total length. From this point forward, I am considered “full term” and I could be born at any time now without medical concern. My mom goes to the doctor every week and she does not feel like eating much. It is important for her to eat small healthy meals to keep us both well. Please keep us in your prayers. Hear me, O coastlands, listen, O distant peoples. The Lord called me from birth, from my mother’s womb he gave me my name. (Isaiah 49:1)
