THE FINAL PURIFICATION OR PURGATORY: All who die in God’s grace and friendship are assured of eternal salvation. After our death the Church teaches that we will undergo purification which is known as PURGATORY. This doctrine was given at the Council of Trent (1563) and then reaffirmed at the Vatican Council II (1965) and made part of The Catechism of the Catholic Church (1992). From the time of Jesus Catholics have honored the memory of the dead and offered prayers and Masses for them.
MARRIAGE TIP: Do you know much about your spouse’s deceased relatives? Spend some time remembering and telling stories about the people in each other’s past. They may not have been perfect, but they are all in the family. Find more Marriage Rx at www.foryourmarriage.org.
WE VALUE THE GIFT OF LIFE THIRTY-EIGHT WEEKS AFTER CONCEPTION My Dear Spiritual Friends, my life started 38 weeks ago at my conception. My mom does not know it yet, but today will be my birthday. I will start labor by releasing large amounts of a hormone called estrogen and thus begin the transition from life inside the womb to newborn. Thank you for following my development and thank you for your prayers. Please continue to pray for the lives of the unborn. Pray for life, protect life and defend life. When a woman is in labor, she is in anguish because her hour has arrived; but when she has given birth to a child, she no longer remembers the pain because of her joy that a child has been born into the world. (John 16:21
