FEAST OF THE ASCENSION
The feast day of the Ascension is May 9th. When we recite the Apostles’ Creed we say these words: “On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.” What do we mean when we say that Jesus “ascended into heaven?” As Catholics, we believe that after Jesus appeared on earth in his risen body, he gave instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. Jesus “was lifted up and a cloud took him from their sight” Jesus’ ascension marks the definitive entrance of Jesus’ humanity into God’s heavenly domain. The feast of the Ascension is a holy day of obligation.
ORDINATION: Scott Belina, a member of St. Anthony’ Parish, Watertown, will be ordained a Catholic priest through the Laying on of Hands and the Invocation of the Holy Spirit for the Diocese of Ogdensburg at St. Mary’s Cathedral , Ogdensburg on Mary 25 at 11:00. Please pray with him in Praise and Thanksgiving to God for this vocation
MARRIAGE TIP: Marriage works best when you have similar moral values, but what if you have different beliefs in a particular situation? The rule of thumb is to honor the stricter person’s moral values.. Find more Marriage Rx at www.foryourmarriage.org.
