Mission Intention for September
That people today, often overwhelmed by noise, may rediscover the value of silence and listen to the voice of God and their sisters and brothers.
CUB SCOUTS: Why the Cub Scouts? It’s fun with a purpose! Scouting teaches core values using outdoor experiences and fun activities as a tool to help your son develop leadership skills and help him grow to be the man you hope he will become. If you have a son or know of a boy in 1st through 5th grade, and think they could benefit from the values-based Scouting program, please, call or click today: 1-855-SCOUT-NY www.trcscouting.org
ST KATERI PILGRIMAGE: The Diocese of Ogdensburg Vocations Society is organizing a pilgrimage with Bishop LaValley to the Shrine of St. Kateri Tekakwitha in Canada on Wednesday, October 9. For bus travel from Plattsburgh phone Lois McCasland at 315-265-9469 before September 21.
CATECHETICAL SUNDAY: The theme for CATECHETICAL SUNDAY 2013 is Open the Door of Faith. Catechetical Sunday is a time to reflect on the role that each person plays in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. We are reminded of the words of Jesus Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations. We are called not to make disciples by being instructed and formed in the practice of our Catholic faith.
OUR LADY OF THE ADIRONDACKS: Our Lady of the Adirondacks House of Prayer, 7270 Star Road, Ellenburg Center, will present a day of reflection and
contemplation on Saturday, September 14, 11 a.m.-4:00 p.m given by Fr. Bill Edwards The talk will be followed by lunch, contemplative prayer and Anticipated Mass at 4 p.m. RSVP by Sept. 11. On September 28 at 10AM Fr. Doug Decker will preside at a healing Mass followed by an opportunity for individual prayer. RSVP by September 26. Reply for either event to: olaprayerhouse@gmail.com or 518-594-3253.
BISHOP’S FUND APPEAL: In the coming week, you will receive a letter and brochure from Bishop LaValley asking you to join him in supporting the 2013 Bishop’s Fund Appeal. Please remember - every gift makes a difference – every gift counts. You may also make a commitment to the Bishop’s Fund Appeal by using an envelope you will find at the entrance to the church. You are invited to bring your gift next weekend for Commitment Weekend and place it in the collection basket or return it to Bishop LaValley in the envelope provided. Online giving is also available at www.rcdony.org/development. Thank you once again for your generosity and support. 2013 Bishop’s Fund Appeal.
