HOLY DAY:
The Feast of the Ascension of the Lord will be observed as a Holy Day of Obligation on Thursday, May 1st. Masses for this day will be at 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM.

MARRIAGE:
We congratulate and offer our prayers for a happy marriage to Roger DuBray and Andrea LaMora who were married in St. James Church on April 26th.

SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER:
Today Jesus promises the next step. He will send us a paraclete, and advocate -- the Holy Spirit -- to continue his saving work. This is the hope we all have that keeps the church and us optimistic despite the troubles of the world. We need the complete Trinity, in whose names we are baptized, to lead a life that is “Spirit-based.”

BLESSING PRAYER OF SEEDS AT PLANTING TIME:
Lord of the harvest, you placed the gifts of creation in our hands and called us to till the earth and make it fruitful. We ask your blessing as we prepare to place these seeds and seedlings in the earth. May the care we show them remind us of your tender love for your people. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

(Pope Benedict XVI)

CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS:
The Catholic Home Mission Appeal provides funding to the global Archdiocese for Military Services, which sends approximately 300 active duty chaplains to offer Mass, sacraments, counselling and the comforts of faith to American Catholic soldiers and their families on 220 military bases around the world. Since 1998, this Catholic Home Mission Appeal has been a powerful expression of stewardship and our Catholic communion. Catholics from more prosperous parishes across America give generously to offer desperately needed help to the mission Church here at home. It is one practical way for parishes to be good stewards of God’s gifts and to make a difference.
