Mission Intention for October
That Sunday may be lived as the day when Christians gather to celebrate the resurrection of the Lord by participating in the Eucharist.

OUR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS -- PARTNERS IN MISSION: The Catholic Schools of the diocese are embarking on an active campaign to increase enrolment and to help people understand the unique value of Catholic schools. On October 1 at the Seton Catholic Gymnasium at 7 pm, this program, entitled "Partners in Mission," will be explained. You are invited to come to this meeting to discover how we can keep the value of Catholic schools alive in the hearts of the all.

PRAYER BEFORE DRIVING: God, thank you for the gift of transportation. Help us to stay safe as we journey on the roads today, and let us be good examples to others as we go out into the world. Amen.

BISHOPS FUND APPEAL Our parish’s Bishop’s Fund Appeal activity is coming to a close. If you have not yet made a gift or pledge, please pray about your decision and make a pledge or one-time gift. Pledge cards and envelopes are located at the back of the Church. Online giving is also available at www.dioogdensburg.org/development. Thank you once again for your generosity and support. To everyone who has made a gift or pledge, thank you for making a difference in the lives of thousands of people across our diocese.

PRAYER FOR OUR RELIGION TEACHERS
Loving God, from the beginning you have raised up among us holy men and women to guide us and teach us along your way of truth. Again today, you have called forth from this community of faith men and women willing and able to give witness to your love and the truth. We ask that you strengthen them and give them the courage they need to be catechists. Open our hearts so that, through them, we may better know and follow your life of love. Amen.

CRAFT SHOW: The Ladies of St. Ann, Mooers Forks will have a Craft Show and Bake Sale on Saturday, October 17 at the St. Joseph Parish Center, 73 Maple Street, Mooers 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Crafters interested in renting a space can phone Marge Pombrio at 236-4577.

FUNERAL: A funeral was celebrated this week for Elizabeth “Liz” LaVarnway. Please remember her and her family in your prayers.

MARRIAGE: We congratulate and offer our prayers for a happy marriage to Stephen Francis Duso, Jr. and Elissa Louise Guynup who were married in St. James Church on September 19th.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: “O all ye holy angels, who, by your adoration in our churches, make up for the little love which your God and our Saviour receives from men, obtain for us the grace to comprehend a little the love of Jesus Christ in the Most Holy Sacrament.” (St. Margaret Mary). Eucharistic Adoration is held throughout the year every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6 am to 9 pm at St. John’s Church Adoration Chapel, downstairs. Everyone is invited to spend some quiet time with Jesus anytime during these hours.

MARRIAGE TIP: When you and your spouse disagree about something try changing places - figuratively. Take your spouse's position to see how it feels from another point of view. You don't have to agree, but it helps your spouse to know you understand. Find more Marriage Rx at www.foryourmarriage.org

ST ANNE SHRINE: The Tourist and Pilgrimage season will officially end on Sunday, October 11th with the 10:30 Mass. Shrine grounds remain as long as weather permits. Office and Visitor's Center is opened year round. Phone: 802-928-3362 or www.saintannesshrine.org.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS IN ACTION: The Msgr. Claude A. Gobet Knights of Columbus Council 6067 is made up of men from the parishes of St James and St Alexander’s who help their church, parishes and communities. Members from Msgr. Gobet Council 6067 will be available after all masses at St James next weekend to hand out information and accept applications.
