Mission Intention for September
That the word of God may be better known, welcomed and lived as the source of freedom and joy.
MARRIAGE: We congratulate and offer our prayers for a happy marriage to Bryan John Caron and Emily Rose Reyell who were married in St. James Church on September 5th.
BISHOPS FUND APPEAL: The 2009 Bishop’s Fund Appeal will begin soon in our parish and throughout the Diocese of Ogdensburg. Our goal is to have 111 or more families participate in this important appeal. If we do this, we will surely exceed our parish financial target of $7223. Your gift to the 2009 Bishop’s Fund Appeal will help continue the vital ministries, services and programs that reach out to so many in need. Please consider making a pledge or one-time gift to this year’s effort.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: Eucharistic Adoration offers to our people the opportunity to join those in the religious life to pray for the salvation of the world, souls everywhere and peace on earth. We cannot underestimate the power of prayer and the difference it will make in our world. (Bl. Mother Teresa of Calcutta). Eucharistic Adoration is held throughout the year every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6 am to 9 pm at St. John’s Church Adoration Chapel, downstairs. Everyone is invited to spend some quiet time with Jesus anytime during these hours.
MARRIAGE TIP: In marriage, we lead and follow. It's like a dance in which we have to be sensitive to the signals of the other and balance our own needs with those of our spouse. Are you more of a leader or a follower?

BACK TO SCHOOL PRAYER
God of all wisdom, you formed humankind in your own likeness and gave us an intellect to help us know you, our Creator, and the world you made. As we begin this new academic year, enlighten the minds of students with the inquisitiveness that seeks ever greater knowledge and understanding. Give teachers and professors the wisdom needed to guide the intellectual endeavors of those entrusted to them. Help all who fund and support education to recognize the value of discovering more about the world you have created and so draw ever closer to you, our Maker. Amen.
BATTLE OF PLATTSBURGH: The Battle of Plattsburgh commemoration events will be held September 7-13. Re-enactment is Saturday, September 12 at 1:00 with parade at 2:00 PM
