Bulletin for the week of December 5, 2010

Mission Intention for December
That our personal experience of suffering may enable us to better understand the unease and pain of those who are alone, sick or aged and stir us to give them generous help.

CHRISTMAS FLOWERS COLLECTION: As in the past you will find envelopes at the entrance to the church for memorial donations for Christmas flowers and decorations. Place your envelope with your contribution in the collection basket. Your generous contribution is very much appreciated.

Epiphany Lessons and Carols Concert: All are welcome to a concert of Lessons and Carols to celebrate the Solemnity of the Epiphany onSunday, January 2, 2011 at 4:00PM at St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville with Bishop Terry LaValley presiding. The choir made up of people from area churches will be singing works by Holst, Caccini, Willcocks, Grier and more.

CHRISTMAS HYMNS WITH CHILDREN: The children in Grades 1-5 who participate in the Religious Education Program on Thursdays will be invited to sing Christmas Carols before the 4:00 Mass on Christmas Eve. Practices will be at the Parish Center after the religion class on Thursday December 9th and at St. James Church on Thursday December 16th. Parents whose children will participate are asked to pick up their child at 4:00 PM on those days.

NEVER MISS MASS AGAIN! When travelling you never miss Mass again by consulting the website: www.MassTimes.org. This website has the location of every Catholic church in the United States and all Catholic parishes in the world. Check it out before as you plan your travels.

FEAST OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION: This feast is about the conception of Mary, not the conception of Jesus. On this day we celebrate the fact that God preserved Mary from sin from the moment she began to grow in her mother’s body. Because Mary is the patron saint of the United States, this feast is observed as a holy day of obligation here.

MARCH OF LIFE PILGRIMAGE: On Sunday, January 23rd a bus will depart from St. Peter’s Church, Plattsburgh for Washington for those who wish to participate in the annual March for Life. Please contact Mrs. Karen Smith for more information at 518-566-6229. For those who are unable to travel to DC, there is a local March for Life being held in Plattsburgh on Sunday, January 16th beginning at 1:30 PM. The Plattsburgh March begins at The Newman Center (90 Broad St) and concludes with a prayer service at St. John's Church (20 Broad St). This year's guest speaker is Bishop Terry LaValley. For more information, please contact Wanda Gaffney at 518-647-5153.

CATHOLIC CALENDARS: Calendars for 2011 indicating the special holy days and saints of the Catholic Church are available for your home or workplace. This year they are on the theme of Christian stewardship.

MARRIAGE TIP: “There is an appointed time for everything…a time to be silent, and a time to speak” (Ecclesiastes 3:7). In your marriage do you need to hold your tongue more so your spouse can speak, speak up more so your spouse knows what you’re feeling, or is everything just right?. Find more Marriage Rx at www.foryourmarriage.org.
