Mission Intention for December
That our personal experience of suffering may enable us to better understand the unease and pain of those who are alone, sick or aged and stir us to give them generous help.

GIVING TREE: Your gifts must be under the Giving Tree by the end of 8;30 Mass on Monday, December 13th. Last year St. James Parishioners were VERY responsive to this act of giving to needy children

CHRISTMAS HYMNS WITH CHILDREN: The children in Grades 1-5 who participate in the Religious Education Program on Thursdays will be invited to sing Christmas Carols before the 4:00 Mass on Christmas Eve. Practices will be at the Parish Center after the religion class on Thursday December 9th and at St. James Church on Thursday December 16th. Parents whose children will participate are asked to pick up their child at 4:00 PM on those days.

MARRIAGE TIP: “Do not return evil for evil, or insult for insult” (1 Peter 3:9). When couples argue, it’s tempting to answer a criticism with another criticism or excuse. A simple, “I’m sorry” can do a world of good. Find more Marriage Rx at www.foryourmarriage.org.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! This is the first Sunday of the new Church year. It’s also the first Sunday of the Church season of Advent. The color of the season is violet to show we’re in a time of quiet preparation for the coming of the Messiah. During Advent we hear John the Baptist telling us to repent, to change our lives for the better, and to make straight the way of the Lord.
For those of you who follow the Bible readings of the Church, our new church year (November 28,2010 to November 27, 2011) will be known as Year A.

FUNERAL: A funeral was celebrated this week for Yvonne Rivers. Please remember her and her family in your prayers.
