Mission Intention for October
That Catholic universities may be places where it is possible to experience the harmonious unity that exists between faith and reason in the light of the Gospel.

BAPTISM: Nicholas Charles Damiani, son of Nicholas and Jennifer (Reyell) Damiani became a member of the Catholic community through the Sacrament of Baptism on October 3rd.

WORLD MISSION SUNDAY: Next Sunday, WORLD MISSION SUNDAY, our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, calls every Catholic to celebrate, at the Eucharist, our vocation to be missionary and to help the Missions. As Catholics around the world — here at home and in the Missions — gather at the Eucharist around the table of the Lord, let us PRAY for the Church’s world-wide mission and let us OFFER FINANCIAL HELP through the PROPAGATION OF THE FAITH for more than 1,150 dioceses in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Pacific Islands.
.
NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING: According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Natural Family Planning respects both the life-giving and love-giving meanings of married love; conforms to the moral law; and respects the bodies of spouses. The Diocesan NFP Office is offering a series of Natural Family Planning classes at the Newman Center in Plattsburgh beginning Saturday, October 23, at 1:30 P.M. The 3-class learner-centered format educates couples to observe and interpret the physical signs of fertility to postpone conception or to achieve pregnancy. Cost for the series is $35, which covers all materials. Preregistration is required. To learn more, please contact the NFP Office at (518)483-0459, or emailapietropaoli@dioogdensburg.org.

CATHOLICTV: CatholicTV is positioned to be picked up by 7 of the major national cable carriers to provide faithful and entertaining Catholic television to countless homes across America. CatholicTV has been asked to ‘prove’ the demand for Catholic television before a distribution contract can be signed. We are asking for your help in spreading the word through one or all of the following steps: Visitwww.CatholicTVEverywhere.com to sign the petition.

FOR REFLECTION: A house is finished the day the last nail is driven. A home is something it becomes much more slowly, something that is nourished into being by a lot of shared living seasoned by a generous dash of shared love.

PROGRAMS THAT SUPPORT SCHOOLS: Recently Sister Mary Helen Hermann, Principal of Seton Academy sent information regarding some stores that help customers give financial help to schools. Purchasing participating products allows you to earn money for schools by indicating the name of the school, e.g.. Seton Academy. Stores and programs are: Hannaford Helps Schools ;Targets—Take Charge of Education ; Price Chopper; Box Tops for Education; Campbell’s Soup Labels; Swanson’s Labels .

MARRIAGE TIP: The interaction of men and women in the workplace can pose a danger to marriage. Work colleagues with similar interests see each other daily, mostly on their best behavior, and with make-up. Recognize the temptation and inoculate yourselves with commitment. BROTHER ANDRÉ - A FRIEND. A BROTHER. A SAINT: On October 17 Brother André Bessette will become a saint of the Catholic Church in Rome through his canonization by Pope Benedict XVI. Despite his growing reputation and his successful healings, Brother André denied having any natural gifts as a healer. He always said it was the power of St. Joseph, and to give thanks and praise to God. Brother André visited and stayed often with the parishioners of Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville. He died on January 6, 1937 at the age of 91. More than one million mourners filed past his coffin and attended his funeral. Today his body lies in a simple tomb inside the breathtaking shrine that now stands on Mount Royal in Montreal.

TV VIEWING OF CANONIZATION OF BROTHER ANDRÉ. Live broadcast of the Canonization ceremony by Pope Benedict XVI direct from St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Italy will be on EWTN TV on October 17th at 3:30 AM. Encores on October 17th at 12 PM & October 18th at 12 AM. (2 Hour broadcast)
