Bulletin for the week of April 3, 2011

Mission Intention for Aptil
That through its compelling preaching of the Gospel, the Church may give young people new reasons for life and hope.

DIOCESAN ECUMENICAL SERVICE: The 2011 Diocesan Ecumentical Service will be celebrated on Sunday, April 10 at 2:30 PM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 320 West Lynde Street, Watertown. All Christians and all people of good will are invited.

CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES: Today we can support families that face difficulties most of us could not imagine, like famine, war, and life in refugee camps. The Works of the Holy Father/Catholic Relief Services Collection helps families by working to reunite them, caring for vulnerable and exploited children, changing unjust laws, and providing pastoral care and humanitarian and emergency assistance across the globe.

LENTEN SCHEDULE OF DAILY MASSES:
St. James, Cadyville: 8:30 Mon-Fri
St. Joseph, Dannemora: 8:30 Mon,Wed and 6:00 PM Fri
St. Alexander, Morrisonville: 7:00 Mon, Fri and 9:00 Tues, Thu
Assumption, Redford: 8:30 all weekdays except 6:00 PM Wed

EASTER DUTY: All Catholics who have reached the age of reason must confess their serious sins in the Sacrament of Penance at least once a year. They must also receive Holy Communion at least once each year during the Easter season, which this year extends from March 9th until Trinity Sunday, June 19th.

BRING SOMEONE TO CHURCH: It has been shown that many persons would return to the practice of their faith if someone would invite them to return. And, surprisingly, this is especially true if the one asking was at one time one of those who had left the practice of their faith. What greater time is there than to bring someone back to church during these days of Lent and the coming days of Palm Sunday and Holy Week.

BAPTISM: Gavin James Devins son of Joshua and Beth (Bordeau) Devins, became a member of the Catholic community through the Sacrament of Baptism on March 27.

MARRIAGE TIP: Divorce is like an amputation. Sometimes it’s necessary but it should be avoided if at all possible because it brings about a permanent disability. As much as you value marriage, show compassion to friends who are divorced. They need your support, not your judgment. .Find more Marriage Rx at www.foryourmarriage.org.

FORTY DAYS FOR LIFE: Pro-life people of the North Country are encouraged to take part in the local 40 Days for Life campaign until April 17. WE VALUE THE GIFT OF LIFE - SEVEN WEEKS AFTER CONCEPTION
Dear Spiritual Friends, I was conceived seven weeks ago and have changed so much. I really look like a little person now – even though I am tiny. I am about one inch long. Did you know that seven weeks after conception, unborn babies swim around using “swimmer strokes” to move. I like to swim, but my mom won’t be able to feel me moving for several more weeks. My mom is gaining a little more weight and her blood volume is increasing to protect her from injury. “Children too are a gift from the Lord, the fruit of the womb, a reward…” (Psalm 127:3))
