PARISH NURSE: St. James Parish welcomes two parishioners who have completed training in the ministry of Parish Nurse at the Mercy Care Parish Nursing Program at Saranac Lake. A Parish Nurse is an active RN licensed in New York State with the specialized practice that focuses on whole person health and spiritual care as part of the process of promoting holistic health in a parish community. It originated with Phoebe, the deaconess mentioned in the letter of St. Paul to the Romans who opened her home to the sick and needy. St. Fabiola, a fourth century widow, sold her possessions and using her wealth to build homes to care for the sick and the poor. Future weekly bulletins will provide information on the services to you of St. James Parish Nurses. The Parish Nurses of St Peter’s Church invite you to a Faith Based Diabetes Support Group which will meet Sunday, June 3rd at 3:00 PM in the Emmaus Room.
BAPTISM: Samuel Timothy Allan Mischler, son of Gregory and Michelle (Meyer) Mischler became a member of the Catholic community through the Sacrament of Baptism on May 27th.
VOCAL CONCERT: The Northern Adirondack Vocal Ensemble will offer their new program, “Of Heaven and Earth: Sacred and Secular Choral Gems” on Saturday, June 16 at 7:30 pm, at St. Peter’s Church, Plattsburgh. Admission is a $10 donation at the door. For more information please telephone 293-7613.
FAMILY GUGGENHEIM: Family Guggenheim is an opportunity for the entire family to get away for a few days of relaxation, fun, prayer, and just being together as family. Family Guggenheim is held at the Guggenheim Retreat Center, operated by on Lower Saranac Lake. Sessions 1 and 2 begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 9 and Thursday, August 16 and end at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 12 and Sunday, August 19. Session 3 begins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5 and ends at 5:00 p.m.on Sunday, October 7. For information phone 315-393-2920.
SAINT ANNE’S SHRINE: Saint Anne’s Shrine in Isle La Motte will reopen for the 2012 Pilgrimage and Tourist Season on Saturday, May 26, 2012 with the 7:00 p.m. Mass. PILGRIMAGE TO AURIESVILLE: The Catholic Daughters of Dannemora is sponsoring a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs in Auriesville on the feast day of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha on Saturday, July 14, 2012. CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS COLLECTION: Next week our parish will take up the collection for the Catholic Communications. This collection communicates the Good News through Catholic social media activities and our faith through podcasts, television, radio and print media. Half of this collection stays in our diocese to support our communication needs, such as our North Country Catholic newspaper.
