Mission Intention for July
That everyone may have work in safe and secure conditions.
MASS TIMES WHILE TRAVELING: Parishioners who are travelling may call 1-800-627-7846 (1-800-MASSTIMES) or http://www.masstimes.org for the location and schedule of Masses in Catholic Churches throughout the USA and other countries.
MARRIAGE TIP: Your family is a system. This means that when one person changes a behavior – for good or for ill – it impacts everyone. If you smile, do a favor, give a compliment, it lifts everyone’s spirit. If you complain or nag, it pulls your beloved down too. Find more Marriage Rx at www.foryourmarriage.org
INSURANCE AND FUEL SPECIAL APPEAL: Thank you for your generous contribution to this appeal.
PILGRIMAGE TO ITALY: With Father Amyot Oct 31-Nov 10. For info: 315-384-2064.
BISHOP’S FUND: The 2011-12 Bishop’s Fund completed its financial year on June 30, 2012. Valerie Matthews, Director of the Bishop’s Fund, sent a report indicating that St. James Parishioners contributed $9,098 this year. Congratulations and thanks for your outstanding generosity.

A Parish Nurse is an active RN licensed in New York State with the specialized practice that focuses on whole person health and spiritual care. Nurses who have completed this course and have accepted the spiritual ministry of Paris Nurse are Nancy LaVac (293-1177) and Ann Learned (293-6233)
GIVE US THIS DAY: We are thankful that the Liturgical Press has offered you a copy of their August 2012 prayer issue of GIVE US THIS DAY. In preparation for August please take home a copy for yourself and others whom you believe would use it.
MISSIONARY COOPERATION APPEAL: The St. James Parish Missionary Coop Appeal is scheduled for the weekend of July 28-19. This year it is for the Diocese of Fairbanks in Alaska. The Diocese of Fairbanks stretches from the Canadian border to Russia to the Arctic Ocean. It has 14,500 Catholics, out of a general population of 161, 000, many of whom are Athabascan Indians. There are 20 active priests working in the diocese, roughly one priest for every 20,000 square miles. Many of the parishes and missions see a priest every other month. Celebrations of the Word with Holy Communion replaces Sunday Mass when a priest is unavailable. Only a small number of parishes are able to support themselves financially. The diocese has KNOM, its radio station in the city of Nome.
THE ANGELUS PRAYER: Some parishioners have asked about the ringing of our Church bells three times a day. The bells are rung for the Angelus Prayer. Since the 14th century, the Angelus Prayer offered Catholics a way to connect their daily lives to the mysteries of their faith by ringing Church bells at morning, noon, and evening to invite them to remember the birth of Jesus. In the silence after each ringing of the bell pray the following V and one Hail Mary:
V. The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary and she conceived of the Holy Spirit. Pray Hail Mary...
V. Behold, the handmaid of the Lord; be it done unto me according to your word. Pray Hail Mary...
V. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Pray Hail Mary...
Conclusion: Pour forth, we beg you, O Lord, your grace into our hearts that we to whom the Incarnation of Christ your Son was made known by the message of an angel may by his Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of his Resurrection, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
