VISITING
A CEMETERY DURING MONTH OF NOVEMBER: The custom of visiting the cemetery
and praying for the dead can be traced to the women who returned to the tomb of
Jesus Easter morning to mourn and complete the preparation of His body for
burial. Then and there they discovered that He had been raised from the dead.
Today, our visits to the cemetery are prompted by our love and faith. We come
to remember, to mourn, to give thanks for the life our beloved shared with us,
to pray for peaceful rest in death, and to strength en our belief that oPne day
we will be united with our beloved in Eternal Life.

IMPORTANCE OF SUNDAY WORSHIP: Pope Francis emphasized that Sunday
must be protected as a day of worship.
He stated that we live in such a busy world that modern Christians need
an appointment with the Lord to give them a sense of direction and help them
move beyond “the bustle of everyday life”.
Pope Francis said that Sunday was “the Church’s weekly feast of
creation”. He said that the first day of the week saw the dawning of creation:
“Let there be light….” “This feast of thanksgiving and joy over God’s creation”
should be celebrated with gratitude and praise.
Living in the North Country helps us to appreciate God’s beauty and to
celebrate the Eucharist with gratitude.
